 PROJECT: WATER TREATMENT PLANT
LOCATION: Daylu Dena Council, Lower Post, B.C.
 OWNER: Interfor Forest Products Ltd.
DESCRIPTION: Upgrade of a nonfunctional, unused water treatment plant. The project involved process design, replacement of all treatment equipment, construction of a storage facility and a backwash disposal system, construction supervision, commissioning, operator training and plant performance monitoring (on-going). The 328 m3/d plant treats groundwater and employs alternating, dual cation exchange softeners for iron and hardness removal. UV disinfection is provided for inactivation of parasites. Sodium hypochlorite is added for virus and bacteria inactivation and to provide a disinfection residual. The plant is highly automated to minimize operator input requirements.
