Pond used to store treated effluent used for irrigation

PROJECT: GOLF COURSE EFFLUENT IRRIGATION

LOCATION: Parksville, BC

DESCRIPTION: In order to augment the irrigation water supply for the golf course, treated effluent from the adjacent French Creek municipal sewage treatment plant was piped to the golf course and stored in a pond. Effluent disinfection was achieved by partitioning part of the pond as a chlorine contact tank and a recirculation loop was set up to disinfect the effluent by injection of chlorine. An Operating Procedures Manual was also developed.
