| DESCRIPTION: NovaTec was
retained to develop a cost effective 2,200 m3/d treatment plant to
remove chlorophenols and iron from contaminated groundwater at an abandoned
sawmill and wood preserving facility. The treated water was to be discharged
into the Fraser River. Following extensive field treatability testing
a treatment train was developed consisting of pH adjustment, hydrogen
peroxide addition for chlorophenol destruction followed by pH adjustment
for iron precipitation. Following completion of process design, a turnkey
contractor was selected to construct the facility. |
